New York

New York

Easter 2012 saw Belcanto cross the 'Pond' and head for the Big Apple...

When it was suggested that Belcanto should head further afield, New York was soon agreed as the ideal destination.

We stayed in the charming town of Tenafly, about half an hour's drive from New York City.

One of the 'highlights' of the trip was the experience of travelling by Yellow School Bus (as in the main photo above!)  I don't think we'll ever forget the roar of that engine and the lack of suspension! Our driver was amazing though and happily drove us back and forth at all hours of the day and night.

For many of us, this was our first visit to New York and shopping was high on the list of things to do!  Of course, we also wanted to see as many of the sights as possible: the Empire State Building, the Rockerfeller Centre, Ground Zero, Central Park...it was fab!

Many of us also headed for the bright lights of Broadway to catch a show - 'Sister Act'  was a favourite.

Of course, the main reason for our visit was to sing and we had been invited to hold a concert at The Church of the Atonement in Tenafly.

We didn't know what to expect but we could never have imagined the warmth of the welcome we received and the heartfelt appreciation for our singing.

This seems a good place to again express our deepest gratitude to the community of Tenafly for their hospitality and kindness - you were the perfect hosts and audience and made us feel like superstars!

We very much hope to visit you again in the future.
